Goldust defeats Renee Depree in a close match Expanding on this just a tad... (Flamer fill in gaps where needed) Before the match, Rene's dog Fifi growled at Goldust, who taunted the poodle by feeling himself up. All the while, Rene was cutting a trash-talking interview about armageddon being upon us, but Goldust looked like he had it all together now with Marlena at his side (aside: Scott, need Photoshop job of Manager by Lita turned into Managed by Marlena). Rene threw the first punch but ran right into a reversal. Goldust changed up the lineup a little bit, but when he went for the brand-spankin' new spinning kick, that annoying dog Fifi bit him in the ass! This distraction was enough to enable Rene to hit a dynamic-looking slam, and an early cover only hit one. Goldust sprung back to life angrily, throwing a wide variety of moves at his opponent. First, he slapped Rene across the face. After feeling himself up, Goldust threw an ap-chaki kick (!) at Rene, which connected full force. However, the patented Goldust Go-Behind (TM) earned Goldust a vehement backlash from Rene's elbow. Shaking off the effects of the kick, Rene took a second to recover, but in that second, Goldust recovered, and drilled Rene with the dreaded MANEUVER OF DOOM~~! for a near fall. Goldust took his time picking apart Rene with effective chain wrestling, including a body lock, and even a surprise run-in by Sharmell didn't help matters for the Frenchman. The heat of the match was clearly getting to Rene, as it looked like he was forgetting his techniques almost as fast as he recovered from the beating. Goldust continued to bring the heat, with little answer from the French Phenom. Rene kept signaling for help from the back, but to no avail, and finally, when Marlena decked Krystal Marshall (sp?) as she ran in from the back, knocking her out of the match, Rene conceded defeat to the man with the Golden Globes. Goldust moves on to face Shelton Benjamin in the next round of the World Championship Tournament.
