Judgment Day also features two new mechanics to further replicate the shenanigans in the WWE rings. First are “corner” cards. In the past, you could only pack superstar-specifics from your superstar. But now, if you play “Triple H Is In My Corner!” you can pack Triple H superstar cards and use them as if they were your own. These add a wealth of design decisions, as you now not only need to think about what cards you have for your superstar and how you want to use them, you also need to think about every other superstar and how he might benefit your design.
The other new addition in Judgment Day is “faction” cards. While corner cards allow you to pack superstar-specifics from other wrestlers, factions align you to a particular group of superstars, such as The Attitude Adjusters. There are five different factions, each with five different cards. These are each unique premium rares which have powerful effects beyond those of regular cards, and players can only pack one copy of each in their decks. Further decisions come as you can not only choose to be a member of a faction, you can also put any superstar you want in your corner, which makes deck building a true challenge.
After Judgment Day, there will be one more expansion for the game in 2007: the annual holiday set in November: Revolution 4: No Mercy. This smaller set will feature new superstars, new corner cards, new factions, plus maneuvers, antics, reversals, pre-match, and mid-match. Plus, rumor has it that it will also include something everyone has been clamoring for: superstar-specific cards for superstars from Revolution 1 – 3.
