interesting idea... I don't think most of ya's can make the amount of decks this would take... but it would be an intriguging alternate format for non-support days....
Several of the Starving Crazed Weasels have commented on how little interest they have in tournament style play. The need to play "power decks" just to get a card successfully played sucks a lot of the fun out of it for many people. With that in mind we are restarting a league we used to run before we started competing in tournaments. Participants are encouraged to run two to three decks in each division. Even the casual mathematician will notice this will require somewhere close to 20 decks per person so there are likely to be some pretty bad decks in there simply based on available card pools. Rules to compete for most of the titles are simple. Only legal format decks may be played. No tag team or Enforcer based superstars can hold any belt other than the Hardcore title. Only the title holder can play the appropriate belt in matches where the current champion is participating. To gain a title shot the challenger must win 3 consecutive matches held against three separate people playing decks from the appropriate divison. The title must be defended at each Pay-per-View. Failure to defend the belt will result in the title being vacated. In the event the title is vacated for whatever reason at the next Pay-Per-View a King of the Ring style tournament will be held to determine a new champion. If no one has qualified to challenge for the belt at a Pay-per-view the Commissioner will select a challenger either randomly or, at his discretion, if the Title Holder is involved in a feud, he may elect to have the title defended against the other person involved in the feud. Members of the division do not have to be branded but if the title holder is branded, only non-branded or like-branded superstars may compete for the belt. They may win cross branded matches to win the right to compete for the belt but the title match itself must follow these construction rules. However, once they win the belt they may elect to switch brands. Also, the "Major" pay-per-views can be competed as crossbranded: Royal Rumble, Wrestlemania, Summerslam, and King of the Ring.
The titles generally have additional restrictions: CRUISERWEIGHT TITLE Deck construction: A minimum of 10% of your total combined cards must be high risk. This can include hybrid high risk cards such as Flying Body Lock. Limited to people who have competed as part of the Cruiserweight division in WWE, WCW, or ECW. Other federations will be considered on a case by case basis. WOMENS BELT Only female decks can compete. TAG TEAM TITLES Each team must conform to published construction rules regarding face/heel and Raw/Smackdown alignment. Additionally, including Backlash deck and arsenal, 10% of your deck must have the Tag logo. Due to the nature of tag, only two matches must be won in succession. The title holders, at their discretion, may declare any match a TLC, Tornado Tag, or other approved alternate format. RAW I-C BELT Deck construction: At least 10% of your total cards (between backlash deck and arsenal) must have the Raw logo. If no qualified challenger exists for the Undisputed Title at a Pay-per-View the Raw I-C champ, the U.S. champ, and the reigning Undisputed champ will compete in a triple threat match for the Undisputed title. U.S. TITLE Deck construction: at least 10% of your total cards (between backlash deck and arsenal) must have the Smackdown logo. If no qualified challenger exists for the Undisputed Title at a Pay-per-View the Raw I-C champ, the U.S. champ, and the reigning Undisputed champ will compete in a triple threat match for the Undisputed title. UNDISPUTED TITLE The holder of the Undisputed title always has the first opportunity to play a venue regardless of printed superstar values. HARDCORE TITLE Every match the title holder is in is a title match. Even if he is pinned in a tag match or royal rumble or other format the title changes hands. No prerequisites exist to challenge for this title. No count outs or disqualifications can occur in a hardcore title match if it is for the express purpose of contending for the hardcore title.
Still in development are rules for feuds, factions, run-ins, and a couple other ideas. Obviously this format is not for everyone and is in no way, shape or form sanctioned by CI. Nevertheless, if you have comments or suggesions they are desired and appreciated.
