Well I guess Keep It Simple for the Stupid was the theme of the evening, because I played Eugene. Mike was Home Team, testing out changes he had made. Steve was Dupree.
Round 1: Asian Dan as Batista
So he's playing Heat ToTL. I have a hand FULL of Red, but nothing to throw at him. He abilities for Spinebuster, gets a TotL Don't Try'd. I draw more red. He TotL into Spine Buster, which gets It's Great to Be Back. More nothingness. Finally, after five turns of draw-go, I draw into the Double Chop. Double Chop->Rowdy Sleeper->Precision Sleeper, end turn. He throws Sucker Punch, which I Revo. German->Lita's DDT->Precision Sleeper, end turn. Sucker Punch eats RKO, then Good Ol' Fashioned Mugging says GG.
1-0
Round 2: Jon Daguar (sp?) as Hurrifriends
AIUU hurts him pretty badly. Him opening with 2 x Revo and a Once Is Enough also didn't help matters. He top-decked like a fiend this match, but I did eventually recover from getting hit with a Shoot Counter and pinned him with Trish's Chick Kick as a reversal.
2-0
Round 3: Robbie Barry as Kane
If he were BFM, I would have been screwed. As it was, I have built-in stip blocking t3ch, which helped nerf the Inferno Match (after overturning like fifteen cards). I get back a Volley This for Journey, and my hand is stacked. His Shoot Punch goes through (or he would have removed one of my LWA's.), and he tries to bait out my Volley on stupid shit, but I wasn't biting. Finally he just sacs one of his two Journeys to it. I Ego Boost->Ego Cutter, then get Don't Try'd on Wedding. He hits a Journey to the Table (getting Road'd). I hit Lita's DDT. I bitch a lot about the ruling that LWA has no effect on your own turn, because I always hit it on my turn and the ruling is one from the Premier era and doesn't apply here. I end up going for broke by going Ready to Fight (which he forgets to Road), pop it to Takin' Care of Business and Maintain, hoping I'll overturn one of my two LWA's on his turn. He ends up dying before either one of them hits.
3-0
Round 4: Mike Anstett as Home Team
I found this match kinda fun. His Psychs and my Ego Boosts spent most of the day battling it out. His pre left me with a two card handsize, which was a searched for Revo and a picked up card from ringside. The only benefit I had is that AIUU was a free play against him. He red-walls me at the beginning, hitting me with Once Is Enoughs, Don't Trying my White Wedding, and laying down two Beginnings. I eventually get down 2 Revos, an Elbow, a German, a Babe Buster, Trish's Chick Kick, and How Important Is It down. That cut his hand down a little to keep having to discard 2 to have an ability. He Borg-Borg's me, taking How Important and Babe Buster. The Road can then come down upon the All For My Fans, keeping his hand low. We end up beating each other back and forth, as I never had enough of a hand to stop his Atomic Power Slams and Atomic Drivers anywhere but Arsenal. It finally ends up that I have an Ego Boost, a Volley This, and the RKO in hand and I'm like in the 40F range. He goes You Feelin' Lucky (T), I name something, and his his maneuver with the RKO, discarding the Ego Boost. I tnen Strat Bulldog, search for a dead action (I think LWA), and discarding it to say Goodnight. Really was a fantastic match the whole way through.
4-0
Round 5: Matias as Stephanie McMahon/Farooq/Bradshaw/Shane-O-Mac
My deck loves to play against Cheaters.
I mess up Steph's pre by Bitter'ing and stealing Managed by Vince, followed up by Product Endorsing and High Fiving. He calls out a You Rang, which I make a Taunt, and he ends my pre with OSWM/US Title, but since he has no Vince cards, he can only play First Family and be done. In my opening hand, I top-decked the Unleashed Bomb, so I let him hit 4 x Beginnings, a Commish (for Volley This) and the Suicide Lariat, overturning on the last card for it. I then hit the DaveBomb only from Arsenal, putting back Eugening Up and a shitton of other action reversals. He Commish's into Pride of the Family, which brings me Lita's DDT (T) and I'm Driven By Anger. Few Heel Men meets I'm Driven by Anger. My German meets Nowhere Fast. Balanced gets Driven By Anger. Roll out of the Ring gets Driven by Anger. He Volley's an action (Spider Web I think). Being Steph, he passes the Turn. He Volley's Hello, My Name Is... and passes the turn. Ready to Fight goes into a Precision Sleeper. Do you know Who Else Is Hot gets the Trish Chick Kick. Roll out of the Ring #2 gets Volley This. German is followed up by Double Chop, which he can't stop and gets me the Real American Cobra Clutch. He goes Clutch, which I let through, and Superplex, which I Great To Be Back Here In... Double-Chop goes through, and I get the RKO. From there, he stalls out, and runs out of deck, so I keep throwing the German at him to make sure he doesn't recover with Bitch Is Back.
5-0
Round of 8: Mike Anstett playing Home Team
Even though I forgot to make him discard for AIUU, this match ended up a little more in my favor. Revo and Ego Boost form the opening hand. He doesn't draw the Don't Try, and can't stop some moves I do, but he Volley's How Important Is It. He does Intensity of Ten Cities, which puts back all his Sloppys and Once Is Enoughs. I open the next turn with Carlito's Way DDT, then White Wedding, discarded my two cards to Ready to Fight, then popped it for Rowdy Sleeper for the pin.
At this point, it's Clark, Albyno, myself, and we watch Jon topdeck like a beast against Matias and beat him.
Round of 4: Jon Daguar playing Hurrifriends.
He didn't do half as well in this match. He ended up sticking two Revos, and that's about it. I rolled through him even without White Wedding this time around. I don't remember much of this match, it kinda sped through.
Finals: Clark Luskin playing LAISE
I played my pre wrong...I should have let him lead the pre instead of Rivalsing, then my hand would have been a little better, judging from the first five damage cards. I couldn't stop his TotL, or his first move. After that, he did about 36D to me on reversals. After he plunged me at 0 with Showdown, I conceded.
I got Dynamic Finisher, 2 x Blatent Choke Hold, and Let Me Get A Shot In.
