I'm playing BASH LAISE.
Round 1: Mark Krueger (R-HHH) I feel bad for this kid. He's been learning the game slowly but surely, but I know what he's gonna do, and if he plays his pre the way I think he will, he's not going to win. And sure enough, his first two cards are Gentleman's Establishment and The Game Is Back TB. I didn't expect the Cerebral Spray as his first event, however. Nonetheless, I end his pre after that with my specific card, then do my hand-building usualness (Kelly Kelly's Expose for ladder, Revo IC Title, TB High Fives). Open with the ladder, goes all the way through. Panic Throw/Kick eats Coach, Big Show's F5, and BASH reversal, and Ladder #2 ends this match. I hate doing that...one, karma, and two, no one likes to get squashed. But whatever...shrug it off and move on.
Round 2: John P (R-Matt Striker) This matchup is beastly bad for me, as he can kill all my maneuvers and make me vulnerable to the bad half of my ability. So, he gets down TTI, Regal, US Title, and Showtime before I do my thing in the pre. He draws his nine, I draw my seven. He ends up drawing Pump Kick; I make him TTI it back and fetch it with Regal. He hits it all the way through, but when he goes to Grab the Mic, I drop Fort Surge, and he's dumbfounded. He plays TIJTB, which I end up Road'ing. I then hit Shock the World into Press Slam, which is oversold. He tries Shoot Forearm, and I hit him with Cheaters Never Win. He takes some more moves to the face and gets pinned.
Round 3: Nick Andrews (Shelton) Now this is my Shelton deck, so I know that he can't handle the LAISE attack. The match was all me, as I ended up top-decking It's Great To Be Back in the opening grip, and he never saw another move that he could play. Something like Press Slam, Press Slam, Rapid Fire Punches, done.
Round 4: (Ultimate Survivor) He plays There Is No Escape, US Title via My Call Out, and Break You. I end up playing Linda, CYO, Mine's Bigger, and Kelly. He broke away my one move and put four cards on the bottom of his deck. I start, get Volley'd on Mountain. Double-Elbow for MHM. I draw the German, but know it's going to eat Mattitude, so I choose to pass, forgetting about my own ability and what happens if I pass. He, also, forgets, leaving me with 4F. He Fifths in MHM and tries it again, and eats Get The "F" Out. After I top deck and hit him with the Press Slam, he realizes that he should have killed an elbow and he would have gotten MHM through. Yeah, usual Colossal beatdown commences from there.
Top 4: Joe Daguair (RVD) My pre-match nerfing basically killed his ability to have Hidden Dragon and Pyro Volley. He still gets the first turn, with which he hits Everything's Cool, Corkscrew Moonsault, and Mr Monday Night. First move on my turn is Sloppy'd. He throws Precision Haymaker, I hit with Rules/Refs. I throw Ladder, he hits with RD Rev, chose not to search. Next turn, Punch After Punch reversed with the BASH reversal and Get Back In The Ring. Move Sloppied. PAP #2 also reversed by Get Back In The Ring and BASH reversal. This prompted the Shoot Lockup, only from Arsenal, that got hit around six. He throws Cold-Cocked, I reverse it. I throw random antic, he Welcomes it and gets Fury of the Storm. He throws Clutch, then Extreme Monkey Flip. Because he was 1F ahead of me, I got to use Off Your Mark to strip Corkscrew Moonsault out of his ring area, crippling him for the rest of the game. I ramped up the F until he had nothing but Dude, Whatever and Thrust Knee Lift left in his deck. I can throw moves infinitely with Rapid Fire Punches x 2 and Unforgiving Ladder, so when he draws Dude, he scoops.
Final: John P (R-Matt Striker) So we're both getting the cards we want from prize support, and when I call him out, I think...hmmm, maybe I'll try something different...and I call out his White Wedding, so that when I get my F down, I can become him and let him sweat the bad half of my ability. Well, that was a pretty spectacular mistake. He got F on me, I got some F on him, we went back and forth, but the difference was him overselling The Unforgiving Ladder. We remembered 3/4 through the match that White Wedding can't be used to swap Extremist abilities, but we played it out despite my hand being brutal. I had four cards left, he had 0. I drew Let's Wrestle Already, played it searching for the one Go Candace left in the deck. I didn't draw it, so I took countout. A couple minutes later, he realized Divine was in his Ringside from the Oversell, so if he remembered it, he would have won. Close match, but it happens. I give him props for doing up Matt Striker proper.
Total haul from trades and prizes: Two for the Show Three to get Ready Marcus Cor Von Flair's Figure-Four Finale Lord of Shoot Antic and probably a slight rankings boost. Now I can build R-Flair for Afterburn, which will be a more fun deck.
