Rogers to go on Injured Reserve

The season is over for Charles Rogers. The Lions' No. 1 wide receiver broke his right clavicle for the second time in less than a year during their week one game and it was announced Monday that he will be placed on Injured Reserve. Head coach Steve Mariucci said Rogers will undergo surgery either later this week or early next week.

Brown's ankle improving

Running back Chris Brown, who rushed for 100 yards in his first NFL start but sat out the entire second half of Saturday's win over Miami with a sprained ankle, is improving, according to Titans coach Jeff Fisher. However, the team still plans to run more tests on their second-year back before making a decision as to his availability for this weeks' AFC South showdown with the Colts.
Warrick's knee holds up

Wide receiver Peter Warrick was limited throughout the preseason by residual pain in his surgically repaired knee. The injury didn't seem to bother him in the season opener, however, as he had five catches for 76 yards and rushed once for eight more yards.
Smith fractures fibula

Wide receiver Steve Smith will miss at least a month after fracturing his left fibula in a season-opening loss to the Packers. Smith sustained the injury with about five minutes remaining in the game, as he made a catch and was dragged down from behind by Hannibal Navies. Smith was in obvious pain as he went down and had to be helped off the field. Panther head coach John Fox said in his postgame news conference that Smith had suffered a fractured fibula. He will be out at least a month, and possibly longer depending on the severity of the injury.
Rattay injured, Dorsey likely to start

An MRI exam revealed that 49ers' quarterback Tim Rattay suffered a separated shoulder during the week one game against the Falcons. As a result, Rattay's backup Ken Dorsey is expected to start on Sunday against the Saints. "He's ready for it," Niners' head coach Dennis Erickson told the Associated Press on Tuesday. We have a lot of confidence in him, or else we wouldn't do it. It doesn't have to do with anything other than Tim's health."
Alexander has a bone bruise, no serious damage

The MRI performed on Shaun Alexander's injured right knee revealed no serious damage. He has been diagnosed with a bruised right knee and might play against the Buccaneers on Sunday. "It might be a week or two," Seahawks' head coach Mike Holmgren told the Associated Press on Tuesday. "We'll just have to see how it goes. We hope he can play, but if he can't then we'll have to go to the next guy."
Williams nursing sprained ankle

As we reported on Sunday, Vikings' running back Moe Williams left their game against the Cowboys with a sprained right ankle. Head coach Mike Tice addressed Williams' condition during his Monday press conference. "We'll see how he progresses during the week. I don't anticipate him being able to practice on Thursday, but we'll see how that goes. He's a tough guy."
Brees perfect on the day

Quarterback Drew Brees handed in a perfect 158.3 quarterback rating in Sunday's season-opening win against the Texans, completing 17 of his 24 passes for 209 yards and two touchdowns. He was seven-for-11 with a touchdown on third down (his downfall last season) and didn't throw an interception (as he did in nine of 11 starts last season).
Bennett won't play in week two

Michael Bennett is progressing "very, very fast" from his sprained right knee. So said Vikings head coach Mike Tice during his weekly press conference on Monday. Tice went on to say that Bennett has been ruled out of next Monday night's game against the Eagles and will not play until he is "almost perfect." Bennett sustained a second-degree sprain of the medial collateral ligament in his knee during their August 27 preseason game.
Rattay, Dorsey both appear on injury report

49ers' quarterbacks Tim Rattay and Ken Dorsey are both listed on the injury report. Rattay is listed as questionable with a shoulder strain, while Dorsey is considered probable with a neck stinger.

Griffin breaks Portis' opening day record

Broncos running back Quentin Griffin established a new franchise record for rushing yards on opening day. His 156 yards against the Chiefs eclipsed the previous record of 120 yards, ironically held by Q's predecessor, Clinton Portis. "It's nice to see Quentin come in and play at that level," Mike Shanahan said. "It didn't really surprise me, but any time you go into your first game and you have a lot of pressure on you, it's always nice to see a guy step up and get it done."(told you Hamus.. he's a LOCK for 1500 yards !!)
Galloway to miss at least a month

Buccaneers' wide receiver Joey Galloway will be sidelined four-to-six weeks by the groin injury he suffered during the 16-10 loss to the Redskins on Saturday. Buccaneers' head coach Jon Gruden referred to the injury as a "significant tear in his left groin." Gruden also told the Tampa Tribune that Galloway will not need surgery.
Feeley to start Sunday

A.J. Feeley was named the starter for Sunday's game with the Bengals. Feeley replaced an ineffective Jay Fiedler during Saturday's game against the Titans. He played the second half, completing 21 of 31 pass attempts for 168 yards, a touchdown, and an interception.
