(Feel free to add comments as it could make a good way to bridge from Tuesday to Sunday in the only sport that mtters now
)
Chicago (1-1) 21, Packers (1-1) 10
This could be THE upset of the year by FAR..... Favre NEVER loses to the Bears (21-5 career) and even less so in Green Bay.. man this does totally wipe out the feel-good start for the Pack who now play the Colts and could be looking at a 1-2 start... you fall FAST in the NFl eh
As for the Bears what else can you say... amazing job doing what seemed impossible, and runining many a suicide pool in week 2 !!
... Packers could be in for a long year and no playoffs... while the Bears may get pesky now....
Detroit (2-0) 28, Houston (0-2) 16
Well so much for Houston being a sleeper team this year.. they're still sleeping it seems
... You can write it off as growing pains for a young franchise I suppose if you want too... or maybe they're not that good yet.... good job by Detroit though winning two games they should win.. but that bubble pops with the Eagles next week... but with their soft schedule a wild card tease is not out of line....
Baltimore (1-1) 30, Steelers (1-1) 13
Baltimore HAD to have this game after last week's debacle with the Browns... and it showed... but not only that the Steelers ain't that GOOD ... Maddox was brutal and his injury may save the season getting Rothelsberger in there (who did look good and teased a comeback for them).. Ravens D did their job... but their offense is fairly brutal....I don't think either these teams will be anything special... but the Steelers do get
a bye next week...err the Dolphins, and should be fun to watch at least !!!
Atlanta (2-0) 34, Rams (1-1) 17
This was kinda fun to watch and see how inept the Rams really are as the Falcons did manhandle them and whip them around the place !! Why for fuck's sake though does Marshall Faulk get 12 carries in a game ! ? ! ? Must be Mike Martz indeed
... Falcons did their job but the way Michael Vick takes a shit kicking the way he runs the ball he's never gonna play a full season.. which is a shame he's still the most entertaining athlete in sports to see do his thing ! Falcons look in good shape in what can be a REAL weak division... while the Rams may miss the playoffs and cost Mike Martz his job.....
Colts (1-1) 31, Titans (1-1) 17
Another game that the team who won HAD to have... not only would being 2 games behind but giving the Titans the tie-breaker as well... this was almost a must-win for the Colts and it showed... well later on... the Titans did have this game but never did quite put their foot on the jugular and finish the job... nice 2nd half comeback by Peyton Manning (still a choke artist
) to keep them in the division hunt... good game to watch... and I'm still high on the Titans (I have much respect for that tgeam)
Giants (1-1) 20, Redskins (1-1) 14
My first question
HOW THE HELL DO YOU GET SEVEN TURNOVERS AND ONLY WIN BY SIX that's NOT a good sign Giants fans... but thank you for knocking out Brunell this week for the Cowboys game :-)... I still don't think the Giants are any good and Clinton Portis' case of Tiki-itis with the fumbles was costly here.... these two teams are showing why they are the bottom 2 teams in the NFC East ! Warner did look fairly efficent when he had time though finishing his first game as a QB since fire was invented !!
New Orleans (1-1) 30, 49ers (0-2) 27
This gonna sound weird but i am gonna kill the Saints and praise the niners for the same thing in the same breath... yes I know Deuce went down on the 3rd play of the game with the dreaded "high ankle sprain" (which is gonna hinder him all year sadly)... but come ON!! This was Ken Dorsey at Quarterback !!! This was nothing but the Kevan Barlow show !!! I give the niners credit for showing some guts and staying in this one.. but they're NOT any good and the fact the Saints had to come from behind (they should have blown out the Niners) tells me the farce the Saints are !!!
Carolina (1-1) 28, Kansas City (0-2) 17'
You just KNEW the Chiefs were in for a down year this year as teams have a year to figure them out now as well as their running joke called a defense... but 0-2 and no help in sight ?? Oh boy !! (well maybe Houston and Baltimore give them a chance to climb back to 2-2).. but Carolina did what they had to do... pounded the ball with Foster (150 + yards) and Delhomme made the plays that he needed too.. and the Chiefs have been semi-exposed as an offense that needs Priest (who got hurt) and Gonzo to have big games or the supporting cast gets real quiet... this is going to be a long year for KC, while the Panthers did quietly (as always) what they needed to do...
Jacksonville (2-0) 7, Denver (1-1) 6
The rumors on the Jaguar defense are ALL true... they shut down what looked the week before like the league's top offense... and made it look easy... the Quentin Griffin fumble on the 20 yard line with Jason Elam salivating at the game winning field goal didn't hurt... but this is 2 weeks in a row the Jags did enough to win the game and that's everything in the NFL !! Jags like the Lions will ride an easy schedule and with that defense and Fred Taylor... if Leftwich can do ANYTHING... the Jags will be a playoff team.. while Denver needs to burn this film and move on !!
Seattle (2-0) 10, Tampa Bay (0-2) 6
Heh... two years ago must feel like an ETERNITY in Tampa Bay.. good thing they have the defending Stanley Cup champs to divert... ummm.. nevermind
.... Tampa is a lot like the Chiefs in a team falling HARD from grace.... and is now relying on Chris Simms (who looked MAJORLY unready for the NFL from what we watched).... and also set a record for most turnovers called back on penalties on one drive
... Seattle again took care of business and did enough to win.. and with their soft schedule could easily win 13 games and be at least the 2-seed in the NFC.. keep an eye on them... while Tampa Bay.. it's like old times for them :-)
Jets (2-0) 34, San Diego (1-1) 28
Thank God fo Curtis Martin !!! He almost singlehandedly overcame the Deuce debacle this week and kept me in my game !! This was a repeat of week 1 for the Jets... top notch offense (Pennington is stepping into elite class in the NFL QB Club... needs to do it more on the big stage though) and the offense is frightening... about as scary as the defense the other way
... I know the Chargers have LT and the points were in garbage time somewhat... but you almost let them back into this game (Doug Flute.. the Dick Clark of the NFL !!.. almost does it again)... the Jets still look like a 10-6 playoff team but they better learn to stop the other team and FAST !!!
Oakland (1-1) 13, Buffalo (0-2) 10
Bleech... two shitty teams in an irrelevant game even in week 2.. ugly game.. I had NO interest in watching it the only thing of note was Jerry Rice not catching a pass for the first time since the Romans invented plumbing ... that's a sad thing and it's time for Jerry to hang it up me thinks... the rest of the game... Bledsoe gets no protection and may be done... the Raiders still suck but are 3 points less sucky then the pathetic Bills
Patroits (2-0) 23, Arizona (0-2) 12
I give Dennis Green some credit.. his shitty team is hanging around in games they prolly shouldn't be hanging in but this is how the Pats work anyway... they kept it basic... ran Dillion a LOT... Brady makes some plays and they kept the Cardinals out of the endzone, to keep on a rolling (what's that 16 in a row now ??)... Arizona may be a spoiler team by season's end but that quarterback... yeech !!
Dallas (1-1) 19, Browns (1-1) 12
Man was Jeff Garcia BAD or what here ?? Minus points in fantasy football, and should have had a negative QB rating too (which is also supposed to be not possible !)...the Cowboy D did the job here and kept forcing Browns mistake after mistake... it's a shame that Testaverde matched them turnover for turnover... Julius Jones is hurt again.. and the 'Boys can NOT run the ball for spit
...I'm still scared that the Cowboy season relies on a 42 year old color blind QB
Cincinatti (1-1) 16, Miami (0-2) 13
Stick a fork in the Fish.. this party's over... this if nothing else shows how important Ricky was to them (props to ESPN for showing the toot toot shots of Ricky all game
)... Miami's offense barely knows each other's NAMES... and stupid coaching was the norm here (like leaving a guy in the game who muffs three kicks in A ROW)...Lamar Gordon couldn't get a first down on a soap bubble !!! And I think we had more fun watching Brian suffer in this game then watching what was the ugliest Sunday Night game this side of THIS week's game !! Miami is DONE.. goodbye ! While the Bengals keep on their 9-7 ways.....
Eagles (2-0) 27, Vikings (1-1) 16
the Eagles did a fantastic job of slowing the Vikings and stopping them at the goal line a few times enough to keep this outcome never in doubt... TO helped out them away late.. and Brian Westbrook quietly had 120 total yeards (and a fumble
) to balance the attack... this looks like it should be the Eagles year as they sorta stomped on a team in the Vikings that looked as potent as any in the NFC and Phily pretty much swatted them away at home !!
